Planet Fashion

From the Streets of Milan and Manhattan to Mumbai and beyond, the fashion world spreads it wings far and beyond. Fashion is an entity of its own that conquers the world with its existence. Of course by definition and to many, fashion might denote conformance to a prevalent standard, rather leading to an implication of negativity. However when looked passed the horizon, one can see the EXISTENCE of this tangible form in every soul. Believe it or not every individual in this world in some way or form, imbibes this concept to the point where they too are inhabitants of this very planet, "Planet Fashion." To some it may be an innate characteristic, to the extent where they breathe fashion for a living, and to some not so much, it's simply a mere mockery for insinuating the time wasted on dwelling upon materialistic goods. The fact of the matter is should we beleive it or not Fashion goes beyond just labels, price tags, clothes and fancy shoes it brings out an essence and identity of a character. Easier said you may think, yet there are many in the world who seem to not want to comprehend the significance of its existence.

Every individual upholds and develops their own identity and character through FASHION. Clear examples to show both sides to the coin, the creation of Fashion to the Runway in Milan..
1. A new born infant no matter their race or origin, every parent selects suitable clothes ethnic wear or simply one piece baby suits to present their young one to the best of their ability. (Identification to get the latest designs perhaps and necessity of clothes of course, but yet we chose our path from either branding to non labels to color choice and beyond. even if its a simple white cotton top for your baby, that represents your sense of STYLE and FASHION)
2. A five year old playing tea party pretends to be a princess and drapes herself with a long sash or secretly wears her mothers high heels. (Yet again, identification to LOOK like mommy and WEAR what she wears, from colors to labels of course but beyond that it develops a sense of a close knit bond for a mother daughter in terms of identification).
3. Being of South Asian Indian descent we come across an array of attires and ethnic wear that represent our home states, cultural backgrounds etc. An uncle that claims to have no liking for fashion can feel so, but the truth is from the collared shirt he wears to the tailored pant he might have gotten stitched by a tailor in a small village in Andhra personifies and indicates the act of indirectly being linked to the fashion industry. Even for that matter, wearing a nine yard saree in a particular color draped by a 65 year old woman in some remote village represents her identity making her a soulful inhabitant of this planet.
4. Woman in India adorning themselves in gold, tribal people in Africa embracing their culture through representation of leaves, feathers, sticks and wooden beads to the aboriginal natives of Australia and the Cherokee Indians themselves, with their unique sense of style make them all collective unified members of this ideology.
5. SiliconAndhra a large South Asian telugu Non profit community organization started the TREND (another quintessential word to fashion), wearing Panchalu/ Dhotis to preserve the long ancestral attire and maintain a unified representation in the community. A clear and healthy portrayal of a Fashionable existence at a grandeur scale in recent times yet again.

This is why it is imperative to acknowledge and see how from the basic resources of growing cotton through field workers, to yarn suppliers, to saree weavers, to glass bead makers and the list goes on, these people are the Kings that assist to help open up Golden opportunities for upcoming designers, manufacturers etc who acts as Queens to hone their skills on a global level. Implicating how ultimately its the CIRCLE Of Life and that every person in some way or other adds value to the concept of Fashion, and Fashion being the Kingdom. We are all the supporters of this Empire. This is why and how we are able to grow from Versace to Sabyasachi and beyond, tieing in relationships of a simple tie being gifted to dad on fathers day, to getting your wedding dress, Fashion plays a vital role in our life. It is up to you to set your mark, beleive in yourself, create identification and pursue that inner fashionista in you. Next time you open that closet think of the Circle of Life, think of the people that helped make the top, think of those that chose the color, think of why that shirt represnts you and your inner soul.

Fashion lies deep within everyone in some way or form, respect and be thankful to the creators of this Planet Fashion. Let your imagination explore, dare to dream and let the truth be told and as stats say it takes 3-4 seconds to judge a person for their first impression and all based on what??? :) YES, I leave it to you to figure the answer!!

Signing off,
Fashion is my Passion!

  2. Anusha,

Welcome to the blogosphere :) Good first post - I agree that we're all fashion conscious in our own specific ways, whether we acknowledge it or not. After all, time and time again it's been proven that how we look reflects how we feel, and how we feel determines how we act - looking put together and sharp is definitely a priority for most people, as it should be! Whether it be Target inspired, or Gucci's latest, doesn't really matter :D

    Keep blogging!
